Alyssa Sofia Forman
MA, Psy.D Candidate, RP (Qualifying)
Psychotherapy + Counselling
Alyssa holds Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology from both Columbia University and The Wright Institute. She is currently completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute.
As a CRPO Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals, Alyssa receives regular supervision from a Doctoral Registered Psychotherapist as part of her ongoing commitment to providing the best support possible to her clients.
Alyssa’s years of clinical experience have taken her from work with at-risk youth to those with terminal illness. She works with the real world issues of our human lives; grief, loss, fear, anxiety, depression, sadness, and doubt. She completed her dissertation on the topic of death and dying [What Zen Hospice Workers can teach Psychologists].
Working to help people locate the connection between the internal experiences of the mind and the lived experience of the body, Alyssa believes that a mindful body-based approach to counselling is a great way to work with the fatigue and hopelessness of chronic pain, illness, work-related stress, relational strains, and ongoing anxiety.
Alyssa is also a registered yoga teacher, meditation instructor, and watercolour artist - all tendrils that inform her approaches to working with the mind.
