Psychotherapy + Counselling
Who are you and what is it that you seek?
These questions are always relevant and the answers can be ever-changing. Regardless of where you are in life, you may end up asking yourself these questions. Through this exploration, you may find comfort and solace, but you may also find that it leads to uncertainty, anxiety, and ultimately more questions than answers.
Through an interpersonal-existential approach, we will explore all that it means to be you while grounding this experience in your moment-to-moment awareness. We will strengthen the connections between your thoughts and feelings by guiding your attention from the portrayal of your story, to the bodily experience of living your story. This process will examine your relationship to self and others, life and death, as well as your perceptions of freedom and security. The goal is for you to find comfort and safety within your existence. This may come from changing the world around you, or it may come from changing the way you perceive and experience the world around you. Regardless, we seek to achieve a balance between you and the world; one that is not burdensome, but instead one that provides meaningful connection, security, acceptance, and ultimately love.
I pride myself on operating through an anti-oppressive lens which appreciates how societal barriers can prevent individuals from feeling heard, valued, and safe. This includes challenging systems that perpetuate the oppression of peoples based on the colour of our skin, our gender expression, sexual orientation, and all other forms of discrimination. Further, feminist and decolonial principles are at the forefront of how I understand and interpret the world. I value informed consent and center the client in every session, making sure you are always an active and willing participant in the therapeutic process.
