Find your purpose.

Our passions reveal our dreams, spark our curiosity and ignite our true potential. Fuel your soul. It lights the way.

It's easy for us to recognize what doesn't make us happy. It's easy for us to get caught up in knowing that 'something doesn't just feel right' and that we have to make 'a change'. But when we ask ourselves what we 'truly' want to make us 'happy', we often get stuck.

Introspection is perhaps the best way to search your soul.

Reflect on your past. What made you the happiest? What made you miserable? What did you learn from your experiences? Now really focus on what really matters in your life RIGHT NOW - not in the distant future. What truly excites you? What motivates you? What do you really NEED?

In order for us to grow and move forward, we have to be willing to ask ourselves some hard questions and truly listen to how our soul responds. Only then can we start living the life we not only want - but need - to be the most authentic version of ourselves.

What's your soul telling you?

The power of lifelong learning

“Learning is never cumulative, it is a movement which has no beginning and no end.”

BRUCE LEE

It has become obvious that learning is no longer just in a ‘classroom’, nor does it end with a getting a ‘formal education’, or degree. The rise of technology has changed how we learn, especially as we age.

It is has never been easier to make a habit of lifelong learning. Books, online courses and ‘masterclasses’, podcasts, Ted Talks and other resources to ‘improve your life’ are abundant and accessible. Every day, we have the opportunity to pursue personal development tailored to our learning style. Every day we have the opportunity to be open and curious, attempt new things, and develop our unique potential.

So why don’t more of us seize that opportunity? We know it’s worth the time, and yet we find it so hard to make the time. Are we afraid? Do we really think we’re ‘too old’ to learn new things? Do we think we will fail?

Lifelong learning opens doors to potential opportunities so we can continue to flourish throughout life. As life changes, we need to adapt whether we want to or not. Being open to new ideas and mastering new skills, helps us to build the resiliency we need to survive and thrive.

The power of giving back

“Alone we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

HELEN KELLER

Most philosophies and religions include a strong belief in giving back to the world. Not only does it have the obvious benefit of helping others, but it’s apparently one of the most therapeutic things we can do for ourselves. Research confirms that having a purpose outside yourself is not only good for your mental health, it’s also good for your physical health and longevity.

When it comes to the ‘pursuit of happiness’, popular culture encourages a focus on ‘oneself’. But the benefits we get from compassion are clearly rooted in our biology. Psychologists have identified a typical state of euphoria reported by those engaged in charitable activity. They call it “helper’s high,” and it’s based on the theory that giving produces endorphins in the brain that provide a mild version of a morphine high.

Giving back can be cultivated simply by thinking about what’s important to you—what problem you’d like to be a small part of helping solve, or what volunteer opportunities are available to you.

The power of passion

“Your unique gifts hold the key to finding your true purpose.”

UNKNOWN

It can be tough to know what we really want. This is a question a surprising number of us ask ourselves. We wonder, what do we want in life? What really matters? How do we stay happy? And, how do we figure it out?

If we don't know what we want, we can have a hard time setting or pursuing goals that would make us happy or improve our lives. We can make moves, but they tend to be the ‘wrong’ ones. Or, rather than make the wrong move, we choose not to make any move at all. That’s why many of us are stuck in jobs we hate or living a life we don’t want or feel satisfied with. Because what does a fancy job or a big paycheck matter if you are burnt out or in a toxic environment that doesn’t fit your needs, values and interests? Now more than ever, we are realizing the preciousness of life and how fleeting time really is.

That's why it's so important to figure out what you want—what you really, really want— so that you can start living a life that reflects your needs, values, and goals. So you can start living a life that makes you happy.

What inspires you or reflects your unique values, personality and interests? Don’t worry about following ‘the rules’ or ‘popular trends’ or other people. Following the beat of your own drum. Dig deep into the dreams and wishes you had as a child and ask yourself… what are your true passions? What would you want if there were no limits?
