Technology has accelerated the pace of life, expanded our options to  ‘connect’, and dramatically influenced how we live moment to moment. But as human beings, we have perhaps never been so disconnected – from ourselves, each other, and the environments in which we live.

Slowing down is usually the first (and sometimes very difficult!) step towards feeling better.  A cornerstone of my work is providing you the spaciousness to find your voice and gain insight on your particular needs, wants, and the roots of any distress you may be experiencing. My approach is grounded in a person-centered, humanistic orientation that aims to enhance and expand your self-knowledge and self-acceptance, while illuminating, and utilizing your strengths.

Often we will find that things currently causing us problems (behaviours, thoughts, ways of being, past choices, relationships) were once rather brilliant -- and unconscious --  solutions to situations we’ve experienced in our lives. But they just don’t work for us anymore. Together we can take stock and make sense of where you’re at now, process the past to dissolve anything that’s ‘stuck’, and find more adaptive, helpful ways to move forward in your life with greater consciousness and a sense of agency.

Among particular interests within my work/practice are everyday struggles that often don’t get the attention they deserve (e.g., people who likely look to be ‘fine’ on the outside but feel like a ‘mess’ on the inside), the reciprocal relationships between work, identity, and well-being; adults identified as ‘gifted’ children; the myriad forms of loss and grief; post-traumatic growth; and a holistic, bio-psycho-social approach to mental health and well-being.
