“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves”
- Carl Jung

Life can present many challenges that are difficult to process emotionally and cognitively. These internal roadblocks are unhealed traumas from our past. It could be emotional wounds from your childhood, sociocultural pressures, interpersonal conflicts, or heartbreaks. Through a person-centered approach, I will provide you with the therapeutic space to explore your emotions and thoughts with unconditional positive regard. Together we will identify your triggers and how they have been impacting your daily life. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) principles will be introduced to identify your emotional mind, rational mind, and wise mind to help navigate your choices in life through your value system. My belief is if we don’t know what our values are, we are navigating life without a roadmap. DBT will also provide you with the skills to help manage your emotions and build a life worth living. I will also apply other therapeutic modalities based on your emotional and cognitive needs such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Having worked with clients with emotion dysregulation and those challenged with substance use addiction, I empathize with those who need to self-medicate to soothe internal discomforts. Together we will explore those discomforts and through a psychoeducational approach, I will teach you the skills on how to become more comfortable with being uncomfortable and apply mindfulness practice. Depending on your treatment plan, I will provide exercises that will help reinforce a healthier narrative. Life is not without pain; what we can manage is our suffering.
